Dr. Stephanie Mines has undertaken a breakthrough task to center the voice of the wise elder, the crone, as unprecedented leadership. Her biography of Rangatira Kuia Maata Wharehoka, Maata: A Māori Model of Women’s Leadership (working title) will be released next year from Inner Traditions, publishers of Stephanie’s book, The Secret of Resilience.

Maata: A Māori Model of Women’s Leadership is replete with timeless feminine and indigenous wisdom meant for right now. Maata’s articulation of the Māori worldview is in service to the enduring matriverse. But we have hit a technical snag. Dated photos, not up to publication quality, have to be reformatted and culturally sensitive material has to be placed in the proper, respectful visual context.

We only have a few weeks to meet the publication deadline so that this book can come out before Maata, who is terminally ill, transitions. Will you make a contribution to the rise of the feminine and the honoring of Maata Wharehoka through the efforts of her biographer, Stephanie Mines, please? All donations are entirely tax deductible.

Watch this video for a personal statement from Stephanie about this effort.
